Schedule your tasks with ease

TaskRunner is a system utility software that enables you to easily automate and schedule tasks for your PC. Developed by Key Efficiency, this automation tool can keep your system performing various commands without much manual input. It can also record its activities in case you’d like to go over what it has accomplished every day. It’s not too beginner-friendly, however, as it will immediately offer an overwhelming range of configurations.

Easy and quick automation

Like other task scheduler tools, TaskRunner can schedule actions either once or regularly. Some of these tasks include file cleanup, launching certain programs, opening files, backing your data up, deleting data, and sending emails at set times. You can set these to be recurring on specific days of the week or month or even specific times during a day so the automation will continue even without you checking this application. You can schedule reminders, too.

To start using this, simply run the installer included in its ZIP file. Take note that you’ll require .NET Framework 2.0 and above for the installation to start properly—otherwise, you’ll get a prompt to download it and you’ll be redirected to the software’s official website. Once installed, however, you can begin automating tasks by setting one up with its action and various configurations. There’s no tutorial included but the interface isn’t too hard to understand.

There are three main tabs available: General, Action Options, and Advanced. General is where you’ll be setting up your tasks. You can find the common settings here, such as the schedules, runtimes, and task name. The Action Options have offers more customization for your chosen action, such as setting the EXE file you’d like to be run. Lastly, Advanced expands the configurations to include notifications regarding the tasks—whether for completion or any errors encountered.

Could use a tutorial

All in all, TaskRunner is a highly-reliable software for any type of user. While it can be overwhelming for beginners or casual users who don’t often fiddle around with task scheduler programs, the interface is easy to navigate and compact enough to not get you lost. It offers different types of actions that you can deeply customize. It could still use an in-app tutorial or FAQ to explain its features, though.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
